How Do We Purify Our Water?
With some water companies, you get your water trucked
to your door, but you don’t get to see anything else. At Cascadia,
we believe education is an important part of the process. Here, customers
can see the water moving through our expanded, multi barrier system.
Sterilization:
We sterilize each bottle using high pressure ozonated water that sterilizes
bottles 3,000 times faster than chlorine, and is more effective and perfectly
safe. We use special polycarbonate (PC) bottles made of lightweight, durable
plastic that don’t leach or breathe. Customers get to watch as their
bottles are being sterilized right in front of them.
Activated Carbon
Activated carbon filtration is a specialized filtration which removes
chlorine and dissolved organic contamination by adsorption. Carbon is
a substance that has a long history of being used to absorb impurities
and is the most powerful absorbent known to man. One pound of carbon contains
a surface area of 125 acres and can absorb thousands of different chemicals.
Particle Filtration
Particle filtration removes suspended sediment that is greater than 5
micron in size such as silt and rust.
Reverse Osmosis
A Reverse 0smosis System is the ultimate water purifier. Water is forced
through a semi-permeable membrane which rejects unwanted impurities. The
membrane allows pure water molecules to pass through, rejecting bacteria,
(i.e. E.coli), parasites, chemicals, moulds, algae, yeast, and heavy metals.
Ozone
Ozone is produced in nature by the ultra-violet rays of the sun and by
the high voltage discharge of lightning. Ozone is produced commercially
much the same way. Ozone is basically oxygen (O2) atoms activated to the
point of accepting an extra oxygen atom to form an (O3) molecule known
as Ozone. Ozone is inherently an unstable molecule and will react with
a great variety of materials in order to return to its more stable oxygen
state (O2). In fact, if the ozone molecule does not find a material to
react with, it will naturally decay back to oxygen within 20 to 40 minutes
after generation. Ozone attacks and destroys viruses, bacteria and other
pollutants up to 3000 times faster than chlorine. Ozone works so much
more effectively and efficiently because it attacks the bacterial cell
walls, creating instant cell destruction. In water, Ozone (O3) returns
to oxygen (O2) in less than one hour. Ozone is fifteen (15) times stronger
than chlorine. In short, Ozone is the most powerful and safe biocide that
can be employed in water treatment.
Microfiltration: 1 micron Absolute
We utilize Absolute Filtration, a filtration method that the bottled water
industry recognizes as an indicator of water purity. An Absolute-rated
filter removes 100% of all particles of a given size. Filters are usually
rated in microns, according to the size of particles that a filter will
remove. A micron is one one thousandth of a millimeter. A 1 micron Absolute
filter will remove 100% of all particles that are 1 micron (or larger)
in size.
Ultra Violet
Ultra violet light radiates organisms with a lethal dose of ultraviolet
light at 254NM wavelength. This light penetrates the microorganisms found
in water and damages the DNA of the bacteria and virus to prevent replication
and renders the organism inactive. Reduction levels are 99.999%. The UV
unit does not add any chemicals or byproducts to the water.Purified Water:
With all contaminants removed, the water is now purified, premium water.
It’s just H2O – two parts hydrogen to one part oxygen. Pure,
simple, and clean.
Taste
No other factor is more telling than taste. Every drop of Cascadia Water
has a refreshing, clean finish. If you’re still in doubt, take the
taste test – grab a bottle from your favorite local grocery store
or from your current water source and drink it back. Now drink ours. Taste
the difference? We thought so. |
